Drive Medical wall-mounted grab bar review
The short version: The strongest option here by a wide margin — and the least practical for most households. If you own the home and are committing to a retrofit, it is the right answer.
Good for
- Owner-occupied homes
- Permanent accessibility retrofits
Not for
- Renters
- Anyone who wants the handle in more than one place
Strength you cannot argue with
Anchored into a stud, this takes a full fall. Nothing suction-mounted matches that and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise.
It also meets standard accessibility load ratings, which matters if you are documenting a home modification.
What it costs you
A contractor, drilled tile, and a permanent decision. My mother was with us for three weeks; drilling her four handles into our tile made no sense.
If your situation is temporary or you rent, this is the wrong tool no matter how strong it is.
